Careers and Professional Development
Careers in early childhood include a wide variety of programs and possibilities including early childhood teachers, teacher assistants, directors and administrators, family child care, adult training, higher education, technical assistance, early intervention.  There are positions in private programs, Head Start, faith-based programs, public schools, and more.
 
Early Childhood credentials such as the CDA, Director's Credential, and certification through the Department of Education are included in the Pennsylvania Career Lattice.   This career lattice chart shows the requirements for various positions in the field. 
 
NAEYC works with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education to accredit early childhood bachelor's and graduate degree programs.  To search for  accredited programs, click here
