Other info you want to include:  His Kids Preschool is an approved PA Pre-K Counts site working in a partnership with four other early childhood programs in Berks County.  This is our third year in the program.

Deborah has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Early Care and Education Specialization from Penn State University.  She is currently the Assistant Director and Program Specialist for Hildebrandt Learning Center in Elizabethtown PA.  Deborah previously worked as a Director for U-GRO Learning Centers and the YWCA of York.  She is currently the President of the Lancaster Area Association for the Education of Young Children and local affiliate board representative for the Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children.

Susan has a BS degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Psychology.  She is currently at the Pre-K Counts site for the Easton Family YMCA and formally was the founder/director of The Hanover Township Preschool in Bethlehem for 12 years.  In addition, she is the President of the Lehigh and Northampton Association for the Education of Young Children.  Susan has been serving on the board as a representative of the local affiliate for almost 2 years, but is new to the current board of directors position.

Professional goals:  To educate policymakers, business community and the community at large regarding the importance of quality early childhood education.  And to ensure that children are afforded the opportunity to have a smooth pre-k to k transition.

 

NE PA Affiliate Goal:  To establish an affiliate that truly addresses the needs of the five county AEYC communities and strategically plan for the implementation of those goals.

Professional position:  Director of the Preschool and Child Care Center on the campus of Slippery Rock University

 

Goals while serving on NWPennAEYC Board :  Make use of  the support that the board and other affiliate contacts can provide to strengthen NWPenn AEYC and to help us grow in membership and services.

Other:  I come from a large family.  Love to travel, read, and be around children.  I was one of the founding board members of Moraine AEYC back in the 90’s and then helped to merge Moraine AEYC into the current Northwestern PennAEYC with two other small, local affiliates.
