Pittsburgh AEYC: It was a tremendously busy summer with the budget impasse. We worked closely with the Early Childhood Advocates State-wide group, and Community Engagement Groups to mobilize members and the great ECE community and parents, to advocate to "Pass the RIGHT Budget, NOW!" Through this activity we identified many sectors of providers who are not AEYC members (nor PACCA members) and we have found that we have now built relationships with these providers. We sent over 2,000 correspondence to legislators, by collecting post cards and correspondence from providers and parents. We planned an Education Forum (rally) with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, with 120 in attendance. We supported rallies in Beaver and Westmoreland Counties, and supported smaller rallies of family child care providers. Now, we will continue the work by "helping to heal" the community, and preparing for the gubernatorial
election, and the 09-10 budget.
