Family:

I live in Elizabethtown, a small college town in Lancaster County near Hershey, with my husband of 25 years, Terry. Terry and I have a daughter, Samantha, who is currently a sophomore at Lebanon Valley College studying Art/Art History and Digital Communications. I enjoy water gardening and spending time with my family

Personal interests:

In addition to spending time with my family I enjoy water gardening, quiet times enjoying nature, nature photography and scrap booking…if I only had more time!

Why do you do this work?

For the children! During the past 25+ years I have asked myself this many times over and it always comes back to the children and the magical feeling I get each and every time a child runs into my office at the end of their day to throw their arms around my neck to say “Good Bye Miss Rose”.  I would love to say I do this work for some more profound and educated reason but the truth is that it’s all about the children and the relationships I have with them, their families and other professionals who are passionate about quality care and supporting children and families! The relationships I have as a result of my work in early care and education, I believe, are the foundation for continuous quality improvement of the early care and education field.

Why are you an AEYC member?

I am committed to providing quality care and education for all children. I believe that my commitment to a professional organization such as AEYC is essential in the fulfillment of my mission. It is through active membership and partnership with other professionals dedicated to children that I believe we can make a difference for every child one day at a time because together we are better!

Favorite AEYC benefits:

There are many benefits that I enjoy including the wonderful professional publications however the benefit I enjoy most are the professional connections and relationships I have made through active membership. These relationships challenge me to think in new ways, expand my horizons and inspire me to build strong communities for all children.
